Its built-in outstanding performance a result of a super-low drag design, incorporating embedded minimal drag top line cascade, "zero drag" revolutionary bullet risers and drastically reduced total line length. Carefully crafted efficient profile also plays an important role in delivering the performance you expect from APCO. LIBRA will excite you from the first moment you take flight. APCO did not follow the usual, well beaten path - chasing performance and L/D by increasing the aspect ratio, reducing profile thickness and its stability - which always leads to undesirable side effects compromising stability, safety and handling. We took a different approach and can proudly state - LIBRA is the most solid and well rounded wing in its Class. Its performance is more than enough to successfully compete with any other serial wing and often beats wings in LTF 2-3 Class too, but it is the pilot friendly behaviour, high level of safety and comfort which puts the LIBRA pilot ahead of the rest.

Bullet Riser

1. Bullet Riser - a revolutionary design of riser. (In the best APCO tradition thinking outside the box)

The riser which will set the future standard for the industry - reduction of riser drag by 80% and more.
Its drop shaped branches produce only a fraction of the drag produced by regular risers.
It is still made from the same 25mm. width webbing, but shaped into a tear drop profile - easy to understand and handle.

Instead of making risers from narrower webbing (a recent trend followed by everyone else) which leads to a hardly noticeable slight reduction of drag, we took a more innovative approach. Taking the same 25mm flat webbing riser (facing the flow against its full width - with a huge amount of drag) and transforming it into a tear drop shape cross section, producing minimal amount of drag - see sketch illustrating the differences. It is a most effective way of improving performance without sacrificing safety, handling and integrity of the wing.

Bullet risers are the latest addition to the other innovative ideas from APCO's design house aimed at improving performance and safety, with no collateral costs (imbedded minimal drag hook-up points, partial diagonal rib construction, SRS, HIT valves, FLEXON and many more................)

2. Accelerated Flight Brake Compensator -

All gliders share a common problem in accelerated flight.
The trailing edge moves up when the angle of attack is reduced for accelerated flight. Since the brake line length / brake slack is adjusted for trim speed , on accelerated flight the brake line is not long enough and actually starts to pull down the trailing edge, slowing down the glider.

APCO is introducing a clever, automatic compensator - this automatically compensates for the lack of brake line length in accelerated flight, allowing for full potential of speed range. See sketch below for explanation.

3. New, internal rib structure to prevent deformation of the sail and total line length reduction.
